Life lately

Life lately...

road trip to see the grandparents
shake-the-house thunderstorms
one very bossy back seat driver
accepting a full-time offer from Pier 1Imports (hooray!!!)
looking for a new place to live
late night work happy hours
enjoying an incredibly rare August day with the high in the upper 80s
celebrating with friends
pretending to be a dinosaur with my girl

happy days.

I love lists Tuesdays!

Be forewarned, this post is a whole bunch of randomness crammed into one post.  But hey, if I make it into a list, that makes my stream of conscious coherent, right?  This is where you graciously nod your head in agreement.

So here goes nothing...

:: Hello water polo!  If you have not checked out the eye candy in the pool, you are missing out.  I think I have found my new favorite sport.

:: Speaking of Olympics, the women's gymnast outfits (can we even call them that!) leave very little to the imagination. And then, when you throw in all that chalk splatter, it is downright scandalous!

:: I am so ready for August to be done.  I go through this each year, where I seriously ask myself why the hell we live in Texas and put up with this oppressive heat.  It makes me cranky.

:: Hell on Wheels starts back up on AMC this weekend and I am giddy with excitement.

:: I have officially decided that I am adding "to attend a ball" to my bucket list.  I think it would be fun to dress up all beauty queen style and see what it is all about.  Fort Worth has its good share of balls, so I am going to work on making this happen.  We will see how it goes... I have yet to share this decision with my husband, who of course would be my escort in this whole ball-attending business.

That's all I have for now.  What is on your mind this Tuesday morning?

My latest eating "kick"

Sometimes I think my eating style is little too much like that of a toddler.  I go through "kicks" where I sort of get obsessed with a specific food or dish and only want to eat that for days/weeks on end.

It drives my husband crazy.  In fact, if he sees one more bell pepper stuffed with crab, he may just throw down at dinner time one of these days.  And for those of you that know my husband outside of this blog, you know how truly entertaining that throw down might be coming from my usually mild-tempered husband.

My current ongoing kick is apricot jam mixed into our plain, homemade yogurt topped with nuts, cinnamon, and nutmeg.  I eat it for breakfast most mornings, especially during the week.  Fast, easy... it is one of my better "kicks".

No real profound statement with this blog post.  Just wanted to share.

What dish do you find yourself making over and over again?
